Substance Use Disorder & The Importance of Treatment
Substance use disorder begins as a solution to manage our emotional and/or physical pain and stress levels. Many times, underlying mental health disorders such as anxiety and depression are either intensified or brought on by substance abuse which can lead to traumatic experiences. This results in an unhealthy and dangerous situation. The more a substance is used to cope, the more it affects the body and brain chemistry. When this happens, the addiction has created both a mental and physical dependence because the brain and the body learn to rely on the substance for comfort and physiological function.
This is not meant to discourage you from seeking help, but to stress the importance of undergoing treatment in an accredited and research-based substance abuse treatment program. It is never too late to turn the tide on an addiction. People from all walks of life have managed to recover and sustain their recovery.
Here at ZRC we have designed a program curriculum structured around our 4 Core Values:
Foundation, Growth, Perseverance, and Service.
A Foundation with deep roots and healthy soil is crucial for stability in recovery. Without it the slightest breeze of resistance can be detrimental. Our Detox and Residential Inpatient Treatment Programs are designed to plant the seed of recovery and develop a solid Foundation of support to stand on and move forward in the recovery process. Groups and Treatment are focused on early recovery coping skills, introduction to 12 steps, relapse awareness, motivation, and other foundational groups.Learn More
The next process which naturally begins to occur once a Foundation is established is Growth. The sprouting of new realizations and achievements begins to develop into a healthy core with small branches of stability, community, success, and resiliency. Our Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) is designed to begin after Detox and Residential Treatment. This is where Growth begins to take place on the Foundation that has been built. Groups and treatment are focused on recovery skills, life skills, 12 steps, communication, and more.Learn More
Changing from old destructive habits into new healthy lifestyles can be discouraging. Once Growth in recovery begins to take place with evidence of structure and success, we guide individuals on Perseverance through the uncomfortable experiences associated with change. The small victories begin to add up. This helps to maintain and nourish the structural integrity of personal recovery. Many of our staff members have personal experience in this area and we share our solution with clients. This is where clients enter the Intensive Outpatient (IOP) level of our program. Groups and treatment are focused on community building, 12 steps, process groups, life skills, nutrition, relapse prevention, self-discovery, relationships, and more.Learn More
Those who have experienced true recovery know the importance of Service to others by sharing our solution. ZRC is not a self-help program. We are a community of recovered individuals sharing the solution with others seeking recovery. We teach the importance of this in the final levels of our Intensive Outpatient (IOP) and Outpatient (OP) programs.Learn More
